Learning Objectives:

Participants will have opportunity to reflect on their current practice in engaging families and share challenges and successes in facilitating positive experiences for families such as family group decision making. Recognising one’s professional knowledge and acknowledging the strengths of the families, professionals possess their own discretionary space to determine the situation together with the identified person and to achieve solutions or a healing process.

Through this workshop experience, participants will:

  • Examine the role of power and information in working with families through adverse situations

  • Identify ways to leverage and widen support networks for families to achieve cohesion

  • Appreciate the interface between the life world and the system world
Challenge one’s own paradigm of giving power to families
